About Corporate

Charles Darwin’s theory ‘survival of the fittest’ constantly prevails in life, be at home or in the workplace. Work-life is actually anchored on this very philosophy – it is the nature of the game. In order for individuals to be successful, they must either be equipped with all of the capabilities that would allow them to face all kinds of challenges no matter what happens, or given the tools to do so. It is not simply educational background or experience that is necessary but the presence of a clear and calm mind that is required in order to be victorious in handling the pressures and obstacles that come up in the workspace.

According to NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health), AIS (American Institute on Stress) and Gallup Poll, workplace stress costs employers an estimated $200 billion per year in absenteeism, lower productivity, staff turnover, workers’ compensation, medical insurance and other stress-related expenses as studied in the US. Sixty percent of lost workdays each year can be attributed to stress. In addition, an estimated 75 to 90 percent of visits to health care providers are due to stress-related conditions, costing employers in increased health care costs. Stress also has a direct effect on the way people handle their jobs. Employees under stress may make more mistakes, have trouble concentrating, become disorganized, become angry or just stop caring about their work. Hence, ensuring mental health and physical well-being in the workplace can assure savings in avoidable costs and contribute towards consistent growth for any company.

Some of the other notable causes of job stress involve the physical environment setup, the organization’s culture and norms, the nature and condition of the work, working relations, and adverse changes in the working condition. The rest of the influencing factors are the fear of losing the current job, fear of responsibility and delegation, and the possible downsizing of opportunities available. Some of the best strategies for dealing with these factors involve getting in touch with your inner self and using your mind in a different way. In addition to that, breathing techniques, meditation, self-awareness, and a sense of empowerment can go a long way in maintaining a positive and motivated workforce and a healthy work environment.
